Rewilding our Relationship to the Tarot

Rewilding our relationship with the Tarot begins with trusting and prioritizing our own knowing, rather than that of others.

The Tarot is, and has always been inherently wild. It existed as ephemeral archetypes, within the bedrock of nature and evolution, long before it came down into paper form. It belongs to you, to me, to us. It reflects the endless power and potential of all beings, all living creatures. Why do you think so many are so frightened by it? Tarot confirms that you are your own wise counsel. It will rewild your life, if you let it, opening the door to your own understandings and teachings around these cards.

The way I teach and understand the Tarot has been shaped by my life experience, my work with my non-Tarot mentor, Michelle, my journey through wild brain chemistry and PTSD, but the lineage I teach is my own. Learning all I could about the Tarot through my 25 years of practice and theoretical study, and then walking away for something more aligned with my truth, allowed a rewilding process with the Tarot to happen in my life. No one taught me Soul Tarot. No one had to. I just needed to trust my knowing. I left the well marked pathways of other people’s interpretations, and instead said, “Hmm...that’s interesting, but what is true for me?” You can do this, too, even if you have a teacher or a lineage that you learned from.

As a teacher of Tarot, this is my greatest gift to my students: to continually remind them that we are equals, and there is no hierarchy.

They know as much as I do, if not more, even if they do not understand it yet. The best thing my material can do for them is create a solid foundation, a cutting of the brush. The wild heart of the forest, however, belongs solely to them.
