Tarot Book Suggestions

Kindly note that the following Tarot book suggestions are not necessarily endorsements, nor will they resonate with or be totally right for everyone. This is not a comprehensive list of books, but merely a place to begin to explore. With everything, follow your intuition, check them out for yourself, and feel free to take what works and leave what doesn’t.

If you are looking for contemporary Tarot books that blend psychological application, and/or real life examples rooted in the card meanings, I recommend you check out The Numinous Tarot Guide by Rashunda Tramble and Tarot for Change by Jessica Dore.

If you are looking for a Tarot book with more classical interpretations, one that weaves in historical reference and practice with a slightly more modern day application, I recommend you check out Tarot Wisdom by Rachel Pollack, Holistic Tarot by Benebell Wen, and Tarot for Your Self and Who are You in the Tarot? by Mary K. Greer.

If you’re looking for a more contemporary Tarot book, one that centers the experience of queer folx, I recommend Queering the Tarot by Cassandra Snow.

If you are looking for a deep dive on symbolism and archetypal language in the Tarot, and interesting takes on connections and synchronicities between cards, I recommend you check out Tarot Correspondences by T. Susan Chang, and Tarot and the Archetypal Journey by Sallie Nichols.

If you’re interested in a book that is more of a light dictionary style resource, with a number of different references from a variety of decks and schools of thought for each card, I recommend that you check out Dictionary of the Tarot by Bill Butler.

Decks I Love

To name all of the Tarot decks that I love, appreciate, and admire would be impossible, but I’m happy to bring a few of my faves into this space. A gentle reminder that just because I am listing a Tarot deck here doesn’t mean that you will necessarily resonate with it. With everything, please use your own judgement, wisdom, and intuition when it comes to working with any tool. You can use any Tarot deck with Soul Tarot offerings.

Gratitude & Lineage

Deepest thanks and acknowledgment to those who have inspired, guided, and assisted me on my path:

To my beloved teacher and mentor, Michelle Sinnette, whose brilliant teachings are rooted in so much of my work, from Soul Tarot and beyond: to say that you have inspired, guided, and assisted me on my path is a profound understatement. To properly thank and name all of the ways that you’ve touched and impacted my life for the better would be impossible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you are, for all that you offer to the world, and for all the love and profound guidance that you’ve brought to my life.

To Jeff Hinshaw, founder of Cosmic Cousins, for continuing to offer me a transformative worldview into astrology that is so continually deep, enriching, and resonant.

To Julia Inglis of Sacred Familiar, for leading me on our Scottish pilgrimage, for teaching me wool felting and the medicine of Spirit Dolls, for your life changing Swan Blessings, and seeing my magic.

To Shea and Rebecca of artic LLC, your work, courses, and sessions have changed my life and reshaped my business in profound ways. To say thank you would never be enough.

To Malissa Pansa-ad and Alex Rodriguez, for providing crucial direction and insight on the TFTWS Community Guidelines document, and for being such valued Inclusivity Moderators for the TFTWS course for many years. Alex, a special thank you to you for your advice and guidance on our invaluable session calls.

To Lara Veleda Vesta, for your incredible work around devotion, ancestral magic, ritual, weaving myth and story, grief, and living with disability and chronic illness. Your writing and offerings have meant the world to me.

To Tara Brach, thank you so much for your work, and for modeling the immense value of a heart centered podcast that can be freely offered to one’s community. It, and you, have had a profound impact on me.
