A “reversal” is the term for a Tarot card that presents as upside down in a reading.
Reversals are fairly universally interpreted in a negative light. They are often seen as a warping of the card’s original purity, or a signal that we are out of balance, or in danger of some kind of excess or folly. In other words, they are seen as a kind of undesired omen.
In Soul Tarot, which is the kind of Tarot that I developed and teach, a reversed Tarot card is the equivalent of taking the rugged, wild path in the forest, as opposed to the marked trail. You are going to arrive at the same place, but you will have a different journey. They help to flavor the card’s meaning, to offer something different and more complex than the original meaning of the card when right side up. Reversals are full of beauty and medicine — opening to that medicine can radically transform and up level our readings.
Created by Lindsay Mack, Reversals is an audio and e-book based workshop, designed to help participants to dismantle the harmful overcultural perception of reversed card meanings, demystify and simplify reversed card meanings in general, and open to a beautifully rewilded relationship with them. Participants will come away from Reversals with a wealth of resources and increased confidence around reversed card meanings.
Reversals will contain the following material:
A pre-recorded audio lesson from Lindsay around reversals from a Soul Tarot framework, and ways to understand what they might represent, mean, or be bringing to any reading that they show up in.
An incredible e-book that includes a list of reversed Tarot card interpretations for all 78 cards in the deck.
